UDA is the most popular party in Kenya, TIFA polls shows

Kenyans have 83 days to decide on who will take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta when he retires in August 9th.

However, according to The Trends and Insights of Africa, TIFA, William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance is the most popular party in the country and enjoys a 29 percent support from Kenyans.

The party was recently born after the deputy president fell out with his boss Uhuru Kenyatta after the 2018 March handshake.

Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Party follows the UDA with the support of 25 percent.

The poll was conducted on Tuesday 16th and a total of 1,117 samples was conducted.

The research was done via telephone calls since morning until evening.

According to TIFA, only ODM and UDA can claim a substantial support geographically.

"In national geographic terms, only ODM and UDA can claim a substantial level of nationwide support,” Wolf stated

The poll further shows that Kalonzo's Wiper Democratic Party enjoys a 3 percent support as well as the ruling Jubilee party.

The Azimio LA Umoja coalition enjoy a 38% support, Kenya Kwanza 29% and One Kenya Alliance 3%.

However, the polls come after the parties have named their running mates.

Wiper Party has named Andrew Chunkuli, Azimio Martha Karua and Kenya Kwanza Rigathi Gachagua.
