Kenyans In Eleven Countries To Vote In Next Year's General Elections

Many Kenyans staying in the diaspora will have an opportunity to exercise their democratic rights come August 9,2021 elections.

The latest report comes after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) made revelations for mass voter registration in the diaspora in December, 2021.

During a close interview with the press, the commission's chairman Wafula Chebukati stated that they would include six more countries to the already five which had met the minimum requirements to take part in 2022 polls.

"The IEBC will add the United Arab Emirates, United States of America, United Kingdom, Canada, Qatar and South Sudan to the list of the countries that will take part in 2022 general elections," said Mr Chebukati.

Wafula Chebukati confirmed that the six countries had met the 3,000 voters threshold to be added as a polling centre.

During the last genearal, Kenyans in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and South Africa took part in the presidential polls.

It is said that atleast three million Kenyans stays in the diaspora, but many of them have not liased with their respective embassies to register as voters.
