Mathira constituency member of Parliament Hon Rigathi Gachagua has been put on spot after what he said about retired prime minister Raila Odinga while in Kieni constituency. Speaking during a rally in Kieni, Gachagua said that what the people of Mt Kenya don't want to see and hear is the name Raila Odinga.
Although Rigathi Gachagua was speaking on his behalf as a person and not as the Mt Kenya spokesman, his statement has been taken as a a sign of utter intolerance that is capable of sparking ethnic intolerance. "What we don't want hear is the name Raila Amollo Odinga," Rigathi Gachagua said.
This is coming few days after speculations rocked the air that the Mathira legislator could be the possible deputy president William Ruto's running mate in the forth coming general elections. Ruto in one of his rallies pointed to the possibility that he could make Rigathi his deputy in a bid to get the Mt Kenya support.
