It is now obvious that the political environment in the country is taking the new shape as we approach the August general election. In Tharaka Niithi county, the race to dethrone the seating governor Onesmus Muthomi Njuki has been gaining momentum with less than seven months remaining.
The Tharaka Niithi county most honoured gubernatorial seat has attracted the likes of the incumbent governor Onesmus Muthomi Njuki, Chuka University Vice Chancellor Prof. Erastus Njoka, Dr. Mzalendo Kibunja, Senator Kithure Kindiki and Gitari Mbuki.
As the clock ticks towards the August ninth general elections, the race to dethrone the incumbent governor Onesmus Muthomi Njuki has been shaping up to be a two_horse race. The incumbent governor Muthomi Njuki and Chuka University Vice Chancellor Prof Erastus Njoka are the frontrunners in the race.
Prof Erastus Njoka is a soft-spoken man who is also a strong religious believer. Njoka been a pioneer of government projects at the local level. He is likely going to ride on the infrastructural transformation in Chuka University to influence more voters in favor of him.
On the other hand, the incumbent governor Onesmus Muthomi Njuki has been in office for five years and he boasts for work experience. In addition to that, Muthomi Njuki has the advantage over other aspirants to use the county resources to initiate new projects and complete the stalled projects in the remaining months thus influencing more voters to vote in favor of him.
