Hon. Francis Kimemia, the Nyandarua Governor who is also seeking for re-election in the August general elections under the ruling Party, Jubilee has dropped his earlier preferred runningmate and settled for another who is a quantity surveyor.
According sources, Kimemia has replaced his running mate Engineer Mungai Mbugua with Isaac Maina Gitura who is a certified registered quantity surveyor. Kimemia is said to have made this new turn after realizing that Mungai did not resign as the regional director of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KERRA) just as it is required by the law.
The Election law states that any public servant who seeks to contest for any elective seat should resign 6 months to general elections. Kimemia said in a statement that he has already submitted Isaac Maina's name to the IEBC. Maina Gitura hails from Matundura village in Kinangop Sub-county, Nyandarua County.
Kimemia is facing strong competition from the UDA counterpart Kiarie Badilisha in hope of clinching the top county seat.
