Just In: IEBC Postpones Announcement of Presidential Results, Gives A Different Time

The majority of people in Kenya and around the world are riveted to their televisions while others are listening to the radio as they wait for Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) head Wafula Chebukati to officially declare the presidential results.

The counting of votes was finished today, August 15, and the results should be made public soon. The commission had previously claimed that it would be prepared by 3 pm, but it has since changed its original plan.

The announcement will be made at 4 PM today, according to KTN News. It is unclear why there has been a delay, though, and whether it will occur at the newly established deadline.

At the time this article was published, Raila Odinga, a presidential candidate for the Kenya Coalition party, had not yet been spotted at the Bomas of Kenya, where the other three candidates—Howe, Azimio la Umoja, and Howe—had also arrived.
