Countable hours after President William Ruto, while addressing Bomet residents during a thanksgiving service, expressed his disappointment with Kericho County MCAs after they fought over positions, the UDA party has summoned the speaker.
Ruto said that the MCAs ought to put the interests of the electorates before their desires for positions.
According to a report by the Star, the speaker Patrick Mutai is now expected to appear before the UDA Disciplinary Committee on January 20th following chaos that rocked the House on Friday.
"Pursuant to the provisions of Article 29(iv)(v)(vi) and (vii) of the Constitution of UDA, you are hereby summoned to appear before the Disciplinary Committee on the 20th of January 2023 at 9am at the Hustler Plaza,4th Floor, Board Room for the hearing of the complaint against you," Charles Njenga and who is the committee chair said.
The MCAs got in to the fistfights and throwing of chairs on Friday over the house leadership, a move that Njenga said has compromised the UDA party's reputation.
He further faulted Mr Mutai in what he said was convening the special meeting and in turn failing to give the party members direction which resulted to the chaos.
"On the 13th of January 2023, during the County Assembly meeting convened to discuss various issues including the house leadership position, you failed to guide the house in giving effect to the party's clear directions in the matter and as a result, there arose confusion, confrontation, violence and commotion."
Njenga added that the speaker might choose to appear before the committee in person, or be represented by an advocate of the High Court, further noting that should the complaint filed against him is established, he will be disciplined according to the UDA constitution.
