The Head of state at Mombasa State House.
President William Ruto has sought to extend the tradition of heads of state spending the new year at State House, Mombasa. The tradition was popularized by former president Uhuru Kenyatta. First president Jomo Kenyatta and Mwai Kibaki also did the same.
Today, the head of state hosted several delegations at the Mombasa State House in anticipation of the new year celebrations where he is scheduled to attend an interdenominational church service at the coastal city.
Information reaching us from State House indicates that president William Ruto will be issuing an address to the nation at midnight. He will issue the address while at the interdenominational church service.
"The President will usher in the Year 2023 in Mombasa, and will on the night of December 31, attend an interdenominational service," press secretary Emanuel Talam said.

This means that kenyans should expect an address on the major televisions at this time.
