"Stop It" LSK Wants Parliament To Stop President William Ruto From This Move

President William Ruto experiences a significant setback when attorneys turn against him and reject his action. The president of state requested in a letter to the National Assembly and Senate speakers on December 9 that they lead efforts to create the role of official opposition leader.

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK), under the leadership of President Eric Theuri, takes a stance against President Wiliam Ruto's proposed constitutional amendments, calling them unconstitutional and urging Parliament to uphold the rule of law.

The amendment, according to the president of the Kenyan Law Society, is essentially a repurposed version of the Building Bridges Initiative.

"There is a very clear precedent that has been set by the courts that those proposed amendments should not be entertained by the Parliament," the LSK President notes.
