Mombasa Governor Shariff Nassir has asked members of Kenya National Union of Nurses who have called for a strike on Monday to be patient as he works out a formula on how to clear salary arrears.
Nassir said he was he aware the Nurses were demanding their rights but they should reflect back how the county under his leadership cleared the backlog.of salary arrears accumulated during the past administration.
"I have been Governor for only two months and I have managed to clear the four months salary arrears which my predecessor left. It is unfair for the Nurses to demand salary one month yet I managed to clear arrears for three months" said Governor Abdulswamad Shariff.

He wondered why the Nurses had raised alarm for arrears of November over delay of five days after receiving October salaries which was part of the arrears.

"They have already received salaries of October which was part of the arrears they were demanding. It is only the November salary which is remaining and despite the delay of five days it will be paid". He said.
