The Pro Uhuru-Raila lawyer insisted that the embattled senator should not be given a seat at the high table since he does not have the bargaining power to convince only 30 MCAs especially after expressing interest to run for the top seat in the country.
He further insisted that if there’s any governor or senator in the country who can’t deliver his County’s Assembly then he or she should not have a seat at the high table.
“If you can’t convince 30 MCAs, you aren’t worthy to be entrusted with convincing 52million Kenyans! Political Leadership is about numbers. “He said.
Baringo County Assembly became the first to reject the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill after a chaotic session.
Just before the Speaker declared the results where 30 MCAs rejected the Bill in comparison to 11 who voted yes, teargas was thrown into the chamber.
The Speaker braved the chaos to announce the results and adjourned the sitting.
Baringo County assembly has 45 MCAs with 32 being from the ruling party. The independence party, Kanu, has 10 members while the three others were elected on Kanu and ODM tickets respectively.
The rivalry between Kanu and Jubilee played out in Baringo County during the launch of the collection of BBI signatures in December last year after political leaders allied to the ruling party boycotted the exercise.
