Kenyans Told of The New Plan to Make Raila President Even if All Jubilee Members Leave

The fringe parties popping up in the Mt Kenya region will ultimately unite behind ODM leader Raila Odinga, EALA lawmaker Mpuru Aburi has said.

This comes at a time when leaders are being seen deserting President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party, interestingly less than a year to the elections.

It is worth noting that the President seems to have settled on Raila as his preferred successor, which means that the defections should alarm him.

But Aburi says that there is no need for panic, as the emergence of parties and defections from Jubilee will in no way affect area leaders' support for Raila.

He suggested that all parties with roots in the region are with the former Premier and will ultimately rally their supporters and manpower behind him.

“Even though we are in other parties, we will support Raila. The best thing to do now is to remain in our parties, mobilise people and then join him towards the election time,” he told The Star.

All this, the leader told the paper, is part of the plan to see to it that Deputy President William Ruto leaves the region empty handed with regards to its vote.

He states that the ongoing campaign led by Raila's troops are already succeeding as the veteran leader is already penetrating the hearts of area voters.

Ruto on the other hand, he holds, is losing the support be was initially seen to possess.

“Raila is now climbing Mt Kenya while the other guy is losing support. I am in National Ordinary People Empowerment Union but I am singing Raila ['s tune]. The ODM leader only needs 30 per cent of Mt Kenya and we will be there,” he is further quoted.

On Saturday, four Mt Kenya governors; Lee Kinyanjui (Nakuru), Ndiritu Muriithi (Laikipia), Francis Kimemia (Nyandarua) and James Nyoro (Kiambu) announced plans to join the PNU and Ubuntu Parties.

They have been very important elements in Raila's campaigns. Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga has also announced plans to join Ruto's UDA, and will be joining his Kirinyaga counterpart Anne Waiguru there.

A good number of MPs have also decamped to UDA, saying that Jubilee has died, even as the Jubilee remnants hold that this will not affect their plan to help Raila beat the DP.
