Even though sources claimed that he was requested to quit in favor of Wambui, he informed the newspaper that he "made a personal decision to retire."
The most prominent opponent of Ruto before the August election was the former Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho, who has been witnessed being expelled by Ruto.
He said that the crew was politically active despite the demands of their offices for impartiality, and he also claimed that they were complicit in state capture.
