Interior PS Raymond Omollo Warmly Received By Embu Leaders Ahead Of Madaraka Day

Celebrations of Madaraka Day are scheduled to take place in Embu County for the first time in 2023. Raymond Omollo, a senior principal secretary in the ministry of internal coordination, arrived in the area today in order to supervise the preparations for the event, which will take place only two months from now.

A delegation of top- ranking politicians from Embu County, including the county' s governor Cicily Mbarire, welcomed the principal secretary and 13 other principal secretaries from various ministries across the country when they arrived. Among the other principal secretaries was the governor of the county.

A senator from the area who has been vocal in insisting that the celebrations should be held in the area was also present. Also present were members of Parliament from the area, including manyata members of Parliament Gitonga and the area senator.

After taking over the instruments of power from his predecessor and outgoing president Uhuru kenyatta a few months ago, Ruto will be celebrating his first madaraka in the country with these festivities. Ruto is a fervent supporter of decentralization, and it was his decision to hold the event in a variety of counties across the country.

The head of state stated that this was consistent with the new theme- based focus of the nation' s celebrations.

" In line with the new focus of our National Celebrations, Embu County will host the 2023 Madaraka Day celebrations, under the theme of Universal Healthcare, " Ruto said.

It was on this day in June 1963 that the Founding Fathers of our nation overthrew the departing colonial authority and founded the first indigenous Government of Kenya, making Madaraka Day an important holiday in Kenya' s history.

Kenya attained what is known as self- rule, or Madaraka, as a result of this legislation, and Mzee Jomo Kenyatta served as our nation' s first Prime Minister.
