After taking over the instruments of power from his predecessor and outgoing president Uhuru kenyatta a few months ago, Ruto will be celebrating his first madaraka in the country with these festivities. Ruto is a fervent supporter of decentralization, and it was his decision to hold the event in a variety of counties across the country.
The head of state stated that this was consistent with the new theme- based focus of the nation' s celebrations.
" In line with the new focus of our National Celebrations, Embu County will host the 2023 Madaraka Day celebrations, under the theme of Universal Healthcare, " Ruto said.
It was on this day in June 1963 that the Founding Fathers of our nation overthrew the departing colonial authority and founded the first indigenous Government of Kenya, making Madaraka Day an important holiday in Kenya' s history.
Kenya attained what is known as self- rule, or Madaraka, as a result of this legislation, and Mzee Jomo Kenyatta served as our nation' s first Prime Minister.
