The current political situation in the country points out towards one thing: that politicians from all corners have started to intensify their political activities in anticipation of the 2022 elections, where president Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to exit office.
For instance, deputy president William Ruto has appeared to be on a serious campaign trail over the last couple of years as he seeks to clinch the presidency in 2022 through what many kenyans now believe to be the United democratic alliance (UDA) party.
Yesterday, Ruto was in the coastal region where he drummed up support for his 2022 presidential bid by meeting coastal leaders in Kilifi. During the meeting, Ruto gave political direction to whom he wants to be the secretary general of UDA party.
According to him, vocal ODM member of parliament for Kilifi North Owen Baya is best suited to be the secretary general of the United democratic alliance going forward.
It is to be remembered that Baya has already joined Ruto's camp, a move that already jeopardized his position as ODM Party organizing secretary. However, only time will tell if Baya will accept the offer by Ruto.
