Musalia, Kalonzo Likely to Join DP Ruto Ahead of 2022, Hints MP James Gakuya

Even as the country gears up towards the 2022 general elections, presidential candidates from across political divides continue to criss-cross the country in a bid to woe more voters into their camps.

Among those who have expressed clear interests to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta includes Deputy President William Ruto and his fierce competitor Raila Odinga, who are both considered best suited to take the mantle.

While OKA principals including Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Gideon Moi have all expressed the same interests, Kenyans still feel that the three are not strong enough to match the two horses.

This has even seen Raila and Ruto's camps race against time in wooing either of the three to abandon their ambitions and join either ODM or UDA to better their chances of being in the next government.

Among those who have come out to weigh in on Musalia and Kalonzo's political futures include Deputy President William Ruto's friend and Tanga tanga MP James Gakuya.

Speaking on Wednesday during an interview with TV47, the Embakasi North legislator predicted a scenario where either Musalia or Kalonzo will join William Ruto's Tangatanga team ahead of 2022 and secure themselves a running mate position.

According to Gakuya, the three will have no choice other than to form coalitions with either Raila or Ruto's sides, and having worked with Raila before, Gakuya foresaw a scenario where one of them will throw in the towel and follow the DP.

This comes at a time Ruto allied leaders have intensified their calls for Musalia Mudabvadi to form a coalition with Ruto. Speaking recently at a burial in Vihiga county, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang wooed Mudavadi, saying he stands a better chance of being in the next government if he decides to work with his neighbour the DP.

However, Musalia and Kalonzo have both maintained they will be on the ballot in 2022. It, however, remains unclear on the strategy the OKA alliance will use to pick its flagbearer.
