Inside Dp Ruto and Raila Scramble for Maasai Nation Votes Ahead of 2022 Polls

Politicians across the country are busy popularizing themselves in all parts of the country ahead of 2022 polls. Maasai nation has been focus for profile leaders eyeing for presidential seat. Deputy president William Ruto and former prime minister Raila Odinga are scrambling to control the region ahead of 2022 polls.

Today the former prime minister Raila Odinga met leaders and delegates from the region in Kajiado county. The consultative meeting brought leaders from six counties inhabited by Maasai community. The delegates were drawn from Kajiado, Narok, Samburu, Laikipia and Baringo counties.

The ODM party leader launched Azimio La Umoja as a campaign strategy to woe votes from the Maasai nation ahead of 2022 polls. The leaders present promised to work alongside with the ODM party chief. Leaders present included Kajiado governor Joseph Ole Lenku, former speaker Ole Kaparo, Cabinet secretary Keriako Tobiko among other elected leaders.

Deputy president William Ruto spent his weekend in Kajiado East constituency. He met various leaders and local residents from Kajiado county. He drummed support for his new bottom-up economic model which aims at adding value to products from Maasai nation. He further said that this new economic model will empower traders from the region.

Today he hosted the family of the late cabinet secretary William Ole Ntimama who was a Maasai elder and vibrant leader of the community. The family was led by the son of the former cabinet secretary Mr. Amos Ntimama. The leaders shared cool moments with the deputy president at his official residence in Karen.

The two leaders are keen on dominating the vote-rich community ahead of 2022 polls. ODM party has dominated the region for a long time. Various leaders from the region were elected using ODM ticket in 2017 polls.
