Following the voting from the Baringo MCAs' over the BBI proposal a section of the MCA have moved to court to file a petition to overturn the voting. This allied members of county assembly are allied to KANU party that moved to shoot down the bill terming it as unfit as it did not include the people of Baringo views.
The KANU party boss Senator Gideon Moi termed the reasons given by the MCAs' to cause chaos and reject the BBI Bill as lame. Raymond Moi the brother to the party boss threatened to deal with the MCA for not passing the BBI. He further claimed that the members are the ones who rejected but not the people of Baringo. "Wacha niwaambie watu wa Baringo hii BBI ikipita wale MCAs' wote walikataa fagieni hao wote waende nyumbani 2022," he stated.
Speaking after filing the petition at the Kabarnet High Court Lawyer Gordon Ogola said the assembly lacked participation from the public among the electorate and didn't follow protocol as the law required.
Baringo was the first county to reject the BBI proposal as per now 4 counties have already passed the vote of "yes" including Kisumu, Siaya, West Pokot and Busia.
