Ruto Told Alleged Reason Nyanza Leaders Refused to Attend His Sunday Event

Decision by Homa Bay leaders to snub President William Ruto's Sunday tour of the region should not be taken lightly, some area leaders have warned.

Ruto's visit was largely unattended by elected area leaders, led by area Governor Gladys Wanga and Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma.

And even with the leaders giving reasons for their absense, Ruto is being warned that this is a show that they don't recognize his presidency.

Homa Bay County Supreme Council of Kenyan Muslims (Supkem) Secretary Nuhu Masud said that the move has a deeper meaning than what's being seen, and has something to do with Ruto himself.

“Not a single leader was present yet it was the first visit the president was making to Nyanza. It is a sign that our leaders do not recognise the current president,” he told the Daily Nation.

Its worth noting that most area leaders are allied to ODM boss Raila Odinga, who has disputed Ruto's win, citing rigging and vote manipulation.

Ruto asked area leaders to join him in serving Kenyans, pointing out that he is now the President of all Kenyans and has no favourites.

"My government will work for everyone. That includes those who did not support us. I love all of you," the Head of State said.
