"The Teso Have Had Their Ten Years And They Should Hand It Over To The Luhya too" Oparanya Now Says

Governor H.E Dr FCPA Wycliffe Oparanya led Azimio Mashinani brigade concluded it's three-day campaigns in Busia county today.

The team that started the vote hunt campaigns for presidential candidate Rt Hon Raila Odinga on Saturday concluded the exercise at Changara market in Teso North constituency to a resounding support from residents.

Dr Oparanya used the rallies to seal power sharing deal between the dominant Luhyia and Teso communities aimed at ending their perennial battles.

The Governor said they had agreed that Busia governorship should be rotational between the two tribes.

"We have agreed that the governor's seat should be rotational. Each community should be holding it for ten years. The Teso have had their ten years and they should hand it over to the Luhyia too," he said.

He noted that such a deal will end political animosity, resulting into peaceful co-existence and spur development.

Dr Oparanya also united Teso North MP Hon Oku Kaunya and his bitter rival and predecessor Hon Arthur Odera.

Hon Odera is deputizing former Minister Hon Dr Paul Otuoma who is ODM gubernatorial candidate.

Dr Oparanya said Busia has all along been Odinga's stronghold and they are not ready to let the support go elsewhere.

He urged residents to vote for Dr Otuoma if they wanted Busia county glory restored.

The Governor thanked all the leaders including MPs who joined him for the campaigns which he termed as very successful.
