Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe and Nominated Member of Parliament Hon Maina Kamanda, who are the leading campaigning team for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga in Mt Kenya region, have insisted on who should deputise the former Premier in upcoming 2022 general elections.
According to People Daily Newspaper, Kamanda and Murathe have insisted that Raila's running mate must come from Murang'a County, since it has not been represented in presidency since independence despite Mt Kenya region have already produced three presidents. Therefore this time round they must have one their own as a county from the vote-rich region.
They are preferring former Gatanga Constituency legislator Hon Peter Kenneth as the most suitable candidate to be Raila's running mate in their presidential ticket. They have argued that Kenneth is the one who is way ahead of all other preferred candidates because he enjoys a massive support in the region, as compared to the other candidates who are being fronted for that position such as Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, Martha Karua and others.
