The Azimio One Kenya Alliance is contesting the presidential election results, which saw independent electoral and bondaries chairman Wafula Chebukati declare deputy president William Samoei Ruto as the president elect. The coalition is assembling a battery of legal minds with sufficient evidence before formally filing a petition at the Supreme Court.
According to Ahmednassir Abdullahi, a member of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, president Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga do not want a repeat election or anything else at the Supreme Court, but only an overturning of the IEBC results to declare Raila Odinga the president-elect.
Donald Kipkorir, a member of the Azimio camp, has argued that the Supreme Court can overturn Chebukati's decision and declare Raila the president after correcting any errors in the total vote calculation.
