The Deputy President has been dealt a major setback after Kalenjin Council of Elders allegedly made a declaration on succession of Uasin Gishu Governor, Jackson Mandago. The Governor is currently in his last term and many political leaders have shown interest in the seat.
Led by Mandago's fierce competitor in the 2017 gubernatorial race, Buzeki Kiprotich who is believed to have a huge following in Uasin Gishu County. Other candidates who have been rumoured to be interested in the seat include Soy MP, Caleb Kositany and Kapseret MP, Hon. Oscar Sudi.

political commentator and blogger, Mr. Kinuthia has now revealed what the Kalenjin Myott Council of Elders told Ruto's ally, Hon. Caleb Kositany on Uasin Gishu Gubernatorial race.
@Believe_Kinuthia Kalenjin Myott Council of Elders told Soy MP Caleb Kositany to drop his Uasin Gishu gubernatorial bid since he is NOT POPULAR on the ground and wait to be State House Comptroller in case Ruto succeeds PM Raila in 2027.
They fear @BuzekiKiprop will be the next governor.
According to the Council of Elders, Buzeki has a strong support on the ground and it would be fair if the Soy MP drops his bid to go for other positions. This is a huge setback to DP Ruto since Buzeki is a close ally of Raila Odinga.
