Thank you again my dear readers and welcome warmly to my daily news updates.
March 23 Movement(M23) is a group that has been fighting the Democratic Republic of Congo government for many years.
In 2013 the Democratic Republic of Congo government announced that they had defeated M23.
In late November 2021, the group reemerged and started attacking the government forces accusing the DRC government of failing to implement the 2009 peace agreement.
The heavy fighting in eastern DRC especially in Kivu Province led the East African Community and the Great Lakes Region leaders to start peace talks in Nairobi Kenya.
M23 rebels seem to have not stopped their constant attacks. It is something that has led President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda to urge President Felix Tshisekedi's government to negotiate with them and bring peace. Museveni went ahead and warned that if they can't agree Uganda is ready to deal with them accordingly.
"We are encouraging the Congolese government to negotiate with them to bring them back peacefully to normal life and if they refuse then we shall use force on them." He lamented.
In my opinion, the Congolese people want peace. Therefore, M23 and the government should come to a peaceful agreement as quickly as possible.
