William Ruto Sends A Message To Uhuru Kenyatta Concerning August Elections

He has been warned by his vice president, William Ruto, to avoid interfering with the August 9 general election and instead prepare to hand over the reins of power peacefully to his successor, President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Dr. Ruto claimed that President Kenyatta had subjected him to misery and humiliation over the course of the last five years, but he had resolved to carry on nevertheless.

UDA's victory in the elections would ensure that the President would be shielded by the state, just like all prior former presidents in the country, and would not be subject to any harassment once he or she had stepped down.

At a rally in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County, the UDA presidential candidate led his followers in criticizing the alleged interference and intimidation of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials ahead of the upcoming elections.

"In order to fulfill your obligation as Kenya's president, we ask that you ensure that there are no election-related snafus. We're not asking for anything from you in return for this."

"You have a constitutional obligation to ensure a free, fair, and democratic election on August 9. We respectfully request that you do not allow anyone acting with malice to intimidate, blackmail, or undermine the voting process on August 9th by the security agencies "Addition by Dr. Ruto.
