Huge Blow To Politicians As IEBC Drops A Shocker Ahead Of 2022 Campaigns

On Monday, IEBC Chairman Chebukati declared that the commission will no longer participate in the activities of the National Multi-Sectoral Consultative Forum and its Technical Working Committee on Election preparedness.

The IEBC boss cited pressure from the members in the powerful committee risking their independence to oversee the 2022 general elections.

Politicians have been dealt with a huge blow after IEBC through the chairman, Wafula Chebukati banned politicians from engaging in any form of Harambee from December 9th.

While appearing during a virtual meeting with the Senate Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs, Chebukati reminded aspirants that they will not be allowed to grace public harambees effective December 9.

He said “After 9th December, it becomes an election offence for aspirants to participate in public harambees. We will work with ODPP to prosecute those that break the law,”

The IEBC move is aimed to contain politicians before the official campaigns starts in the country.

IEBC remarks seems to be a big blow to politicians who have in most ocassions give huge contribution during harambee so as to popularise their 2022 bids.
