Political realignments continue to rock the various counties as we edge closer to the much hyped general elections slated for August 9th 2022. In Kilifi County, at least five aspirants have shown interest in the Malindi parliamentary seat currently held by Hon Aisha Jumwa who has shifted her focus to the gubernatorial seat.
Among the five aspirants is a powerful female candidate named Hon Amina Laura Mnyazi. Amina is seeking to succeed Aisha Jumwa after she was handed the Orange Democratic Movement party (ODM) ticket to vie for the seat in the August polls.
She was handed the ODM ticket after the party used consensus as a means of nominating it's aspirants in the county. Others who were seeking the ODM flag were media personality Jamal Gaddafi and Sanga Barawa. In the 2017 general elections, Amina Mnyazi had vied for the same parliamentary seat on Jubilee Party ticket but lost to incumbent Aisha Jumwa who contested on ODM.

Lately, Amina has heightened her campaigns in the constituency that commands over 90,000 registered voters as per the IEBC register. She has been urging the Constituency's residents to elect leaders of kind heart who understand the problems of people so as to get solutions to their challenges. Also she is banking on youths whom she had urged to come out in large numbers to support his bid to change the political landscape of the area.
One of her main manifesto is that she will ensure budgetary allocation and implementation of Government ROAD projects in the populous constituency and also advocate for the tarmacking, repair, re-carpeting of all the major access roads in the five wards as part of initiatives borne out of her commitment in ensuring that the standard of living of our people is improved.
