The Republic of Uganda was today stricken by a sombre mood after learning of the demise of the parliament speaker, Jacob Oulanyah. The news of his death was revealed by the president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni through his social media handles. 
According to Museveni, speaker Jacob Oulanyah passed away today at 10.30 am but the news was delayed in order for it to reach his relatives first. The late Jacob died in Seattle hospital in the US after a prolonged Illness that had lasted about a month. The illness has however still not been revealed.
Speaking today following his demise was the deputy speaker of Uganda, Annitah Among who appeared weak while delivering her speech. She uncontrollably broke down in tears over the death of Speaker Jacob Oulanyah while addressing journalists in the parliament. Condolences all over East Africa have been sent to the grieving nation. Rest in Peace Speaker Jacob Oulanyah.
