The head of State admitted that the state officers have secret offshore accounts. This has made top Kenyan leaders give their views on the matter.
Narok County Senator Ledama Olekina has said that there is no problem with President Uhuru having an offshore account.
Ledama said Kenyatta's family is well known to have been in business for a long time. He added that no law that hinders anyone from keeping their money outside the country. He was saying this at Citizen TV early today.
However, Uasin Gishu County women representative Gladys Shollei said that President Uhuru Kenyatta cannot lead a country that is suffering economically while he is saving his wealth out of the country.
On his side, lawyer Dennis Anyoka said that the fact that President Uhuru Kenyatta is running an offshore account is an indication that he is executing unconstitutional crimes.
Anyoka said on K24 TV this morning that it is unconstitutional for any state officers to run an offshore account without being approved by the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC)
