Some days ago, Kenyans turned out in great numbers to elect new leaders as president uhuru Kenyatta tenure is coming to an end. The presidential seat contest was between Raila Odinga from Azimio la Umoja and William Samoei Ruto from Kenya kwanza. The IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati announced William Ruto as the president elect which left some happy and others in stitches.
This didn't go well with Raila Odinga who claimed that the elections were not conducted in a free and fair manner where he said it was not transparent. He therefore filed a case in the supreme court of Kenya where many are waiting for the rulling to know the if the elections will be nullified.
Lawyer Donald Kipkorir has come out claiming that the supreme court can also declare Raila Odinga as president elect without going for another election. According to him, he said that our supreme court has inherent jurisdiction to correct arithmetic errors without substantive hearing.
He went ahead and said if Azimio will seek for correction of arithmetic errors and demonstrate beyound peradventure that Raila Odinga won, then Raila can be declared president without fresh elections. According to you Kenyans, what is your view on this? Let's meet in the comments section and talk about this.
