Wafula Wamunyinyi, the Azimio La Umoja candidate for Bungoma County Senatorial seat, accused opponent Ford Kenya of rigging the ongoing by-election on Thursday, December 8.
Wamunyinyi stated to press after casting his ballot that numerous Ford Kenya agents had slipped marked ballot sheets into polling stations.
He warned Ford Kenya supporters against using shady tactics to win the race to succeed Moses Wetangula in Bungoma.
"I am shocked to learn that Ford Kenya agents marked ballot papers within polling stations," Wamunyinyi lamented.
He claimed that citizens have so far burned phony voting papers in Sirisia and Bumula, where several operatives were captured with marked ballots.
The former Ford Kenya leader urged his supporters to take immediate action against those attempting to subvert the decision of the people.
"We are appealing to our people to vote in large numbers because it is their right," Wamunyinyi said.
Furthermore, the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) party leader has urged Bungoma County residents to protect their voting rights.
