Juliana Cherera Explains Why They Disowned Presidential Results

Cherera Finally Provides Calculation On How Polls

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission's chief, Mr. Wafula Chebukati, declared the results at Bomas of Kenya yesterday. Raila Odinga has rejected them

Raila referred to the outcome as "Chebukati's results" and insisted that the commissioners were not involved in the final tally. The four commissioners have been referred to by Raila as national heroes and heroines. The commissioners have been informed by him that they have nothing to worry about since the entire republic is with them and they are secure.

However, The vice chair of the IEBC, Juliana Cherera, has now claimed that the results were altered after she yesterday caused a dispute among the other three commissioners on the outcome in Chebukati.

In a statement to the media this afternoon, Cherena claimed that the combined percentage of the four candidates for president was close to 100%. She said that the extra 140,000 votes—or 0.01% of the total ballots—were essential to Dp Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua's victory. The final presidential result was significantly impacted by the 0.01%, or 142,000 votes. The total percentages of the four presidential contenders' results "exceeded the 100% level," according to Julianna Cherera.
