Kiambu County is one the counties that are located in the central party of the country and it is dominated by the Agikuyu community. In terms of politics, Kiambu county is the background of President Uhuru Kenyatta. As the clock ticks towards the August general elections, the race to dethrone the incumbent governor James Nyoro has been taking the new shape.
The prestigious Kiambu county gubernatorial seat has attracted the likes of the former governor William Kabogo, Kiambu county Senator Kimani Wamatangi, Thika Central Member of Parliament Patrick Wainaina, Kiambu County Assembly Speaker Stephen Ndicho and the incumbent governor James Nyoro.
As we approach the August general elections, the political temperature in Kiambu county has been taking the new shape. The race is now shaping up to be a rematch between the incumbent governor James Nyoro and the former governor William Kabogo. The two aspirants will face stiff competition from other aspirants but their growing influence in the county cannot be ignored.
William Kabogo has been making inroads in the county with his Tujibebe Wakenya Party to rally support from the voters. In addition to that, Kabogo is likely going to ride on his development projects as the first governor of Kiambu county.
On the other side, the incumbent governor James Nyoro has been moving around the county to convince more voters to vote for him. The incumbent governor has the advantage of using the recourses of the county to launch new projects and complete the stalled projects in the remaining months thus influencing the voting pattern in Kiambu county. May the best candidate win the race.
