2022 presidential race has been dubbed a two-horse race between William Ruto and Raila Odinga. The duo are political titans with vast experience, influence and endearing nature the attributes which makes their duel worth a watch.
Of the areas the two are jostling to win is Mt Kenya support, the region is a votes rich hub and whoever earns their support is assured of occupying the house on the hill. UhuRuto's political marriage had assured the latter of their reciprocity between 2022 and 2032 but that is now illusional.
In her rare discourse, Kirinyaga County boss Anne Waiguru has revealed that no presidential candidate can yet claim of controlling the region's support. Mt Kenya according to her is still up for grabs and whoever plays his cards well, will have their support in return. Waiguru has further revealed that presidential hopefuls will have but to publicize their bids individually.
To Ruto and team, Anne's revelation contradicts their perception and conclusion that the region is solidly behind the Hustler nation. Pro-Ruto stalwarts have for a while now been propagating a political gospel to all and sundry that the area is overwhelmingly supporting the man from Sugoi.
To Agwambo, this is but a reprieve. Raila is staking on the region's support and as Waiguru declared, the region is still up for grabs and all Baba needs is to sell himself as the most candid candidate to the mountain. Musalia Mudavadi and Kalonzo Musyoka are some of the outsiders who needs the region's support. As the famous maxim goes; that there is will go to those best suited.
