The Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has been experiencing intense shakeups especially on the side of the four commissioner branded as ‘rebel' after they boldly revoked the August 9 presidential results.
Former Commissioners Justus Nyang'aya, Juliana Cherera and Francis Wanderi decided to quit their respective positions citing claims of being under pressure following their suspension and expected investigations by a tribunal appointed by President William Ruto.
Shortly after Francis Wanderi penned down his resignation letter, reports begun circulating that the remaining one of the Cherera four, Irene Masit has also resigned. Her lawyer, Donald Kipkorir has now cleared the air over the allegations.
In a statement as confirmed by multiple sources, Lawyer Donald Kipkorir has informed that Commissioner Irene Masit has not resigned. The Senior Counsel has maintained that Irene is not planning and will not resign from her position and therefore, the circulating news should be treated as false.
“My client will not resign from her position. The viral reports on her resignation are false," the lawyer told Standard Digital.
