Raphael Tuju, Cabinet Secretary without Portfolio and Jubilee Party Secretary General, is bereaved by the death of his mother, Mama Mary Odiyo Tuju.
Mama Mary died on Wednesday, November 18, while receiving treatment at a Nairobi hospital. She was 87 years old.
President Uhuru Kenyatta expressed his condolences in a telegram, describing the grandmother as a well regarded community leader.
The Head of State praised Mama Mary as a strong matriach who raised a prosperous family and prayed to God for solace and fortitude for the Tuju family during this terrible time of bereavement.
"We will be eternally grateful for the effort she has done for our country and for raising a strong family that has continued to contribute to our country's socioeconomic transition."
"I pray that God would pour out his love and serenity on you as you mourn the loss of your dear mother."
President Kenyatta consoled the family, saying, "I guarantee you of my prayers and support as you come to terms with the death of your family matriarch."
