The story that has been in the headlines for most part of the week in the Kenyan media houses and social platforms is about the four embattled Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Commissioners led by Vice Chair Juliana Cherera. Bitter president William Samoei Arap Ruto decided to revenge against them as he suspended the four from office by force. The four protested against the presidential election results during the recently concluded hotly contested 2022 general elections.
Fresh details have emerged about the four embattled IEBC Commissioners as the following secret is publicly revealed. According to Kenyans scholar Professor Makau Mutua, he revealed that the tribunal that was formed by president Ruto to investigate the four embattled IEBC Commissioners was formed even before Kenya Kwanza Alliance politicians approved the report from the JLAC. He added that even CJ Martha Koome was prepared to swear in the members of that tribunal.
"It’s CLEAR the kangaroo tribunal to HANG the IEBC Four was formed before UDA MPs “approved” the JLAC report. The calendar of CJ @CJMarthaKoome was pre-cleared to swear in the hangmen. The speed of the operation bespeaks of a regime that’s deeply insecure and illegitimate." Tweeted by Professor Makau Mutua
