In a brief speech delivered from Mombasa when he was issuing out some copies of the constitutional amendment proposals making up the Building Bridges Initiative document, the interior CS Dr Fred Matiang'i took a moment to remind Kenyans that we are in a democratic country and everything that's being pushed by the handshake team is in line with democracy.
That BBI is being propagated in good faith and no one has been or is being coerced into ultimately making a choice that's not of his or her liking over the matter.
In his own words as he was issuing out the copies to Muslim leaders CS Matiang'i said that "tusome sisi sote pamoja na tuendelee kushauriana. Hatutaki kulazimishatu, hatujalazimisha mtu na hatutalazimisha mtu kwa sababu tuko katika nchi huru."
That "this country belongs to all of us and let's work together as brothers and sisters to build a framework of togetherness and unity."
He then assured them that "you can count on us to work with you to ensure that the work we are doing of bringing Kenyans together continues with success."
Matiang'i who started his Coast tour in the morning of today on February 17th is tasked with among other things inspecting of some Government projects and meeting leaders as well as security organs in the region.
