Nyeri: MP Gachagua Exposes How Uhuru Diverted Money For Important Mt Kenya Project To Nyanza In 2018

Mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua has now exposed how president Uhuru Kenyatta deliberately diverted money meant for important Mt Kenya development project to Nyanza region in 2018.

Speaking at Kenya Kwanza coalition grassroot Economic Forum in Embu on Friday, Gachagua alleged that Uhuru diverted Ksh. 3 billion that was supposed to have be used to connect electricity to all homesteads in Mt Kenya, to Nyanza region for other infrastructural projects.

According to the coalition's presidential runningmate in the August 2022 general election, the Head State conspired with former prime minister Raila Odinga to deny the region the project courtesy of handshake between them in 2018.

Gachagua, therefore, averred that he would never forgive Raila for joining the government side of political divide and scuttling all the development agendas that was in the pipeline for Uhuru's second term. He asserted that the residents lost a lot and they could be pleased if they had sufficient supply of electric energy to their homes.

"I will not forgive the man of riddles (Raila) on this," Gachagua said.

Further, the vocal United Democratic Alliance (UDA) footsolder called on the former prime minister not to contemplate setting foot in Mt Kenya region to drum up support for his 2022 presidential bid because he was not welcome.

This comes as the race for Kenya's top seat in the forthcoming election hots up, following the moves by both front-runners, deputy president Dr William Ruto and Raila to appoint runningmates from Mt Kenya region. DP Ruto has appointed Rigathi Gachagua while Raila has settled on Martha Karua.
