Kibwana Finally Reacts to Zoning Calls by Azimio as he Cautions The Alliance Ahead of August Polls

Makueni County governor Kivutha Kibwana is among the latest leaders allied to the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance, and who have given their opinions on calls by the coalition council to compel certain candidates to step down in favour of others.

The council which met on Friday last week resolved that they will implore the 'weak' candidates to step down and support the 'popular' candidates, in a move they said will help them to consolidate their votes in to one ballot and thus guarantee them a win.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Kivutha cautioned the Azimio camp to be very careful with the zoning issue, saying that the alliance might think that they are fielding the popular candidate, and instead give their opponents a win.

He argued that it was better for the alliance to allow all candidates cleared to contest for the seats in the August polls, terming him a show of democracy.

"Azimio has a lot of candidates, and that is why they are saying that votes could be split. We should be very careful on how we handle the issue, since the candidates were nominated by their parties and cleared by IEBC, there must be a consensus if not then the alliance will lose many seats come August."
