The Handshake between the president of Kenya, His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta and former prime minister Raila Odinga came at a time that it was most needed for a peaceful nation. Raila has finally named persons Ruto picked to be part of 14 member BBI committee after Ruto publicly disowned the document.

Immediately after Handshake announcement was made, faults between the president and his deputy president began to spring up. The deputy president has continously argued that he was not involved in the drafting of the Constitution amendment bill.

Using non involvement to agitate for a national debate, Ruto claimed that BBI was born as a result of secret talks between the president and Raila. Speaking late yesterday to Inooro media, Raila revisited the BBI Memorandum of Understanding signing where clearly stated that Uhuru called Ruto in his presence and informed him of the pending announcement.

The president asked his deputy to submit a list of names that he felt should be constituted. Raila named those picked by Ruto as James Matundura, Major (Rtd) John Seii and Agnes Kavindu Muthama.

It is now clear that the deputy president was included in the entire BBI process. What made him change his mind concerning the document? To increase popularity?
