On August 15, 2022, as the results of the presidential election were about to be released, Narok Senator Ledama Olekina claims that only a select few people are aware of what happened at the Bomas of Kenya.
The ODM senator said in a statement on Monday, January 16, that the truth about the situation would eventually out.
"How many individuals actually know what occurred at Bomas? The conspiracy theories of Riggy G will be among those you read one day, Ledama tweeted.
He made his remarks the day after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua alleged that some Azimio camp members sought to buy off IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati in order to thwart the decision of the people.
"Chebukati was sent to try to accept a KSh1 billion bribe to proclaim the election would be called in favor of the opposing candidate, but he refused. They even sent the military chief, but they were unmoved, according to Gachagua on January 15 Sunday.
On January 16, Chebukati asked President William Ruto to appoint a commission of inquiry to look into State meddling in the general election of the previous year.
He asserted that the National Security Advisory Council (NSAC) pressured the electoral commission into moderating the presidential election results from the previous year.
According to Chebukati, "The commission wrote to the President of the Republic of Kenya asking for a public inquiry in respect to the procedure leading to the declaration of the final results at the Bomas of Kenya."
The investigation's findings, he continued, "we believe will nurture the commission's independence and guarantee that it maintains the statute envisaged by the Constitution."
