IPOA Investigates Attempted Rape And Shooting That Were Done During The General Elections


The Independent Policing and Oversight Authority has now started investigations into the conduct of officers who were dispatched into various sections so as to enhance smooth facilitations of the General Elections that were conducted on 9th of August.

According to the Independent Policing and Oversight Authority, in a statement signed by the Chairperson Ann Makori on Saturday 250 police officers were deployed during the polling period.

The Authority has cited that there were three instances that happened that police officers are looking into.These includes shooting of two of two men and one woman by police officers at Eldas at Wajir County.

The victims are ailing severe injuries which is not okay for the police officers to conduct such an incidence.Makori said that the third incident where a police officer in Uasin Gishu County allegedly shot a political aspirant's bodyguard on August 8 2022, before the general elections were conducted by the IEBC.
