On Friday January 21 Raila Odinga told the Homa Bay residents not to give food to the youths who haven't registered as voters until they register. This statement has caused several reactions online after a media station posted on its social media page.
Most Kenyans stated that Raila was wrong when he asked for the youths to be denied food because it is against the human rights. Some stated that it is not a good way of punishing people in order to register as voters.
According to some people, registering as a voter is a voluntary move and no one should be forced to register or vote.Several people condemned the former prime ministers words as some suggested that he should motivate the youths to register rather than use threats and punishment.
Some people stated that Railas' statement is a form of incitement which might cause conflicts among parents and the youths that might result to death.
