Only just 37 days remaining before we go into August General and here, Raila Odinga have received a huge boost, after More than 700 professionals from Elgeyo Marakwet County endorsed him for the presidency in what is emerging as a huge political blow to DP William Ruto, who is also eyeing to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta.
Elgeyo Marakwet is a region in Rift Valley believed to be Ruto's political backyard and stronghold. However, the professionals from the Keiyo and Marakwet communities met today in Eldoret Town where they made the such political quaking declaration.
During the alleged declaration of Odinga as their preferred candidate to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, they noted that they believe it is only the former prime minister who would help resolve challenges in the region especially banditry in Kerio Valley, which have raised insecurity in the region over the past years.
They also endorsed the outgoing Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos, who is seeking to oust incumbent senator Kipchumba Murkomen in the senatorial race on a Jubilee ticket.
The meeting was presided over by their patron Dr John Kibosia who is a former CEO of the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
“We know Raila Odinga has demonstrated his commitment and love for the country and his choice of Narc Kenya party leader, Martha Karua as a favourite running mate makes them the safe hands for the leadership of this county," Dr Kibosia said.
