Good News to Deputy President William Ruto as the Orange Democratic Movement issues a warning on any attempt by a section of leaders to extend the life of Parliament after 2022 issuing fresh details about the Building Bridges Initiative.
In a report via the Standard one of the Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's close confidants, Junet Mohammed has informed that as the ODM they will not allow any attempt to extend President Uhuru's term and that they are opposed to such plans and debates.
"We cannot allow next year's general elections to be extended even for a minute. We as ODM are opposed to such plans and debates," stated Junet.
The National Assembly Minority Whip has said that there is no way the process of constitutional changes can prohibit elections explaining that the Constitutional term limit should be adhered to strictly.
Junet has said that the biggest mistake is to use the BBI to break the law and extend poll dates.
"We must respect the Constitution even as we pursue to make it better through the BBI. We cannot plan to break the law and extend poll dates because we want to change the Law," Junet has added.
Deputy President William also recently condemned those plotting to extend President Uhuru's term informing that,
"The People who are talking about the postponement of the elections are talking the language of impunity and it has no space in Kenya, I know for sure at there will be an election next year," DP Ruto said.
