Raila's Plan to Hold Parallel Rally On Jamhuri Day

Former Kenyan prime minister Raila Odinga's Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition has recently explained why they abandoned his planned protests and large-scale action against the Kenya Kwanza Government.

In a statement, Azimio, via National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi, said that the Coalition had decided to forgo the protests in favor of a later time after listening to the parents of candidates taking the national exams.

A source that reached our desk, however, stated that Raila Odinga still intended to hold his demonstration as planned, but it would begin on December 7.

Our source claims that the movement will begin on July 7 and that plans are currently being made to hold meetings in addition to those held by the administration. They are currently preparing to stage a parallel Jamhuri Day in opposition to the policies of the government.

Following their yesterday meetings, which were presided over by Raila and Kalonzo, both of the members in attendance supported the demonstration as a show of support against President Ruto's leadership.

However, according to our source, there were some difficulties in the talks since some of his allies opposed the plan, arguing that Jamhuri Day is a significant national holiday that shouldn't be upended.
