Deputy President William Ruto Held Meeting Today With 227 MCAs From The Mt Kenya Region

Deputy President William Ruto held meeting with 227 MCAs from the Mt Kenya region where he lives in Karen.

The DP is expected to launch its economic plan in December.Saturday's meeting comes within two weeks of holding a similar forum with MCAs from the Baringo region.

Last month, President Uhuru Kenyatta's ruling party suffered a setback after some of his supporters from the Central courtyard joined Ruto's recently started party.

The surprise shift of at least eight politicians to Tangatanga is seen as a way to strengthen Ruto's bid to turn the tables of Uhuru in Mt Kenya ahead of the 2022 elections.

Gathoni Wamuchomba,David Gikaria and Githunguri MP Gabriel Kago have also joined the party.

As Kenya prepares for the crucial 2022 elections, the season is open to political alignment and the formation of new parties.

A new political party, the United Democratic Alliance, allied with Deputy President William Ruto has been officially registered, and will host a political event.

Initially, the UDA party was formerly the Party for Development and Change and later changed its name in accordance with the Political Parties Act.

As of September 2020, Kenya has 71 fully registered political parties, and these numbers are expected to increase as elections approach.

Kenya's constitution allows for the formation of political parties, promoting democracy as long as the party does not promote racial, regional and religious hatred.
