A grandson of the country's second Head of State the late President Daniel Arap Moi has been kicked out from his residential house over rent arrears and is now on the streets.
Collins Kibet on Monday, February 7 told the High Court in Milimani that he was evicted last week and that he cannot therefore cater for his needs or his family.
The court was told that the rent arrears have accumulated to more than Ksh240,000. This is for the six months period he failed to pay his landlord leading to his eviction.
Collins also revealed that he has been barred from managing his late father Jonathan Kipkemboi Moi's multibillion-dollar fortune, which he left in 2019.
With what he acquired from former President Moi's inheritance, the late Jonathan's wealth is said to be in the billions of shillings.
Jonathan, on the other hand, had not left a will directing the distribution of his large fortune among his family and dependents, resulting in a protracted legal battle for the powerful family.
Collins, who has had a difficult existence, accuses his stepmother Sylvia Cherotich and stepbrother Clint Kiprono of neglecting him. Despite the fact that he is a reliance on his late father's inheritance, he accuses them of abandoning him.
Despite the fact that Sylvia and Clint are the estate's administrators, Collins claims he was not engaged in securing court orders to handle the multibillion-dollar inheritance.
"The deceased's first home, where Collins grew up, is not being provided for and is not included among the administrators." On Friday, he was evicted from his home and is now living on the streets. Collins' lawyer Duncan Okatch told Justice Aggrey Muchelule, "It is saddening considering the nature of the estate."
Although the grant for letters of administration has not been finalized, the estate is being actively managed. There is no accountability for the money that is coming in (to the estate). He is the deceased's eldest son, according to the lawyer.
Collins' wife, Gladys Jeruto, and their children are also seeking to be restrained from participating in the legal battle so that the estate can take care of their needs as the race for the billions heats up.
Aside from Collin's allegations, Jonathan's widow is also being sued by two ladies who claim to have been married to the deceased.
