BBI Suffers Huge Blow After Report Emerge That Only 12 Counties Received The Correct Bill Format

As the joint Legal Affairs Committee made of Senators and MPs meet for the second time to deliberate on the BBI bill, reports have emerged that only 12 counties received the correct format of the bill.

This now forces the committee to harmonize the bill, a move that will cause delays which might in turn lead to the postponement of the referendum.

According to a report by Citizen TV, the bill sent to the count assemblies is varied to that sent to the parliament. The reports discloses that only 12 counties received and debated the correct format while the other 34 counties received a different version.

In addition, the report states that the Senate and the National Assembly also have different BBI formats, noting that the Senate received the certified BBI format.

The counties that debated the certified bill include; Mandera, Embu, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Murang'a, Kiambu, Siaya, Turkana, Nakuru, Elgeyo Marakwet and Laikipia.

The expert report has however given the parliament a free hand to correct the form and typo issues in the bill.
